The AmazonSmile program allows shoppers to donate 0.5 percent of their qualifying Amazon purchases to the nonprofit organization of their choice.
How it works
The key to using this program is to visit smile.amazon.com to ensure your purchases will be tracked. Adding a bookmark to your web browser will make it easy to come back to the right place each time.
You will be asked to choose which non-profit you would like to support when you complete the brief enrollment process. Almost one million 501(c)(3) charities are currently part of the program.
Changing which charity you support is easy. Click on “My Account” on the top right of any page and then choose “Change My Charity” under the Account Setting heading.
All of the items that are part of the program are listed as “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation.” Millions of different items are currently part of the program.
If you’re a mobile shopper, you will need to use the browser on your phone or tablet to make purchases away from your desktop PC. AmazonSmile is not part of the Amazon mobile app right now.
How can my nonprofit join AmazonSmile?
Visit org.amazon.com and any official representative of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is also included on guidestar.org can request to be added to the list of participating AmazonSmile charities.
A number of Marathon clients participate in the AmazonSmile program. Let us know if you need a recommendation and we can suggest a number of great organizations to support the next time you visit Amazon to do your online shopping.
